Over the next few weeks, I am going to feature one of the girls from the Color Cast Designs Design Team here on my blog. I am so lucky to have such an amazing group of girls designing with my products. I just love it!
Becky is my only non-project lifer. She does awesome 12×12 layouts, cards, mini albums, fun projects and so much more. She also is on the Paper Issues Design Team. You can catch up on her Blog right here. Here is a bit about her and some of the projects that she has done for Color Cast Designs.
Becky is a CPA by day. Scrapbooker and Gin & Tonic drinker by night. In between she manages two doxies, a 75 pound puppy, two kids and her other half. If you can’t find her…She is probably on a flight to somewhere with a swim up bar; call back later.
I think that her most recent layout is my very favorite! She has a gorgeous dog named Jaxson that steals the show on this layout. Isn’t he adorable?! I love how she used the quote outline bubbles to show what Jaxson must be thinking about. Such is the dogs life! She also used the Chunky Puppy in an adorable cluster of embellishments.
Another adorable dog layout! I think that it is safe to say that Becky is an animal lover! On this layout, she used the “Say What?” quote bubble and used crayon to color in the etched part to make the saying really pop. LOVE this!!
Becky adorned this beautiful package with the heart from the Love Heart set. Doesn’t it look gorgeous with the black and white packaging? Someone was very lucky to receive this package from Becky.
Gold, Gold and some silver…yes please!! Becky used embossing powder to cover the clear snowflakes in gold and silver. So awesome! I like how she left some parts clear and embossed just parts of the snowflakes.
In the pocket pages below Becky documents an amazing trip her and her significant other went on. I adore their selfie! So fun. And the gorgeous views….so so good! She used the clear snowflake layered under some journaling to highlight the snow.
In this spread at the Lake, Becky used bits from the Arrows set and Sentiment Circles set. I love the clean grid layout and the colors on this layout.
To get additional details on Becky’s layouts and to read more about her, check out her blog “That Becky Girl Crafts”. You can also find her on Instagram (@rebmnmny). I am so blessed to have met her as not only has she been an incredible asset to the Color Cast Designs Design Team, she has become a friend. Thank you for all you do Becky! xxx
I had grand ideas for going the monthly route on my Project Life this year…then I sat down to get started and I was stumped. My first thought was to scrap my idea and just go back to doing a weekly format, but I knew that I was bored with the weekly format. SO, I decided I had to at least get thru January without giving up and then reevaluate. I am so glad I did that. I am loving the non chronological format my pages are taking so far. My plan is to keep going in hopes that I keep the groove I have found and maybe find some others along the way. Here is a peak at my first pages:
I used the Studio Calico January Project Life kit: Far Far Away. I LOVE this kit and love that they offer the Project Life Cards digitally as I like to pull them into Photoshop and do my typing right on them and then print on the card I get in the kit. I also used the Wood Veneer January from my store and the gold heart from the Passion kit in my store.
I will be using the gold letterpress months from Studio Calico on the first page of each month also. They are on cream cardstock and I have this really weird problem with mixing white (the background on most Project Life Cards) and cream. To get myself over this, I cut the Gold letterpress card down a bit and matted it on a white and gold star card. That way the cream and white are on one card together…like they were meant to be that way. I think that helps tie the other white into the layout.
Here is the back of this page
More of the January Studio Calico kit, some Kellie stamps (I am obsessed with these stamps, they are awesome for every layout). I also used the blue mirrored “winter” from my Frozen set and a clear snowflake over the “O” on “Hello’. A couple of Ali Edwards digital brushes, another favorite of mine, and the page was done.
I love how the pink heart with gold looks over the snowflake. I need more of these hearts so I don’t hoard the ones I have.
And lastly, I printed my “Around Here” post on vellum and put it at the front of my first page. It might get moved around, but for now I like it here. I love printing on vellum, but it really doesn’t photograph well.
I like how it all looks layered together here.
Thanks for stopping by! If you have any questions, ask away!
I have decide with my monthly Project Life theme to include a monthly “Around Here” list and a “Currently” list. I think that this will give a good overview to our lives each month. I am so excited about the changes I am making for my 2015 album. I have done Project Life for so many years, I am excited to shake things up a bit.
Around Here The weather is all over the place. Sixty’s for highs one day and then teens and snow and ice the next.
Around Here I am feeling super excited that it is Thursday which means that there is only one more sleep until my girls come home to our house. I am ready to hear their laughter through out the house.
Around Here I am constantly thinking about my sister and the pain she must be going thru watching her son go thru all the awful things one with Leukemia has to go thru. My heart is constantly breaking for her, for him, for their family, for all of my family. You never know how something like Cancer will change your life until someone very close to you is diagnosed with it. I have seen Carter’s diagnosis change my sister and her family of course, but I have also seen how it has effected my girls: especially Riley. Her and Carter are very close. My parents…I see the hurt in their eyes knowing that their girl and grandson are hurting both physically and emotionally. It has made us a closer, stronger family, but what I wouldn’t give for it to have never found its way into my sweet nephews body. Cancer sucks big time.
Around Here I am ready to get Christmas down and start the new year fresh. Yep, it is still up at our house. Need more hours in the day!
Around Here I am enjoying watching Kiefer’s imagination explode. I don’t know if it is because he is an only child half the time, because he is a boy or if it is just his personality, but his imagination is endless. So fun to watch and be a part of!
Around Here I am love that my girls both use their phones daily to call and/or text me when they are at their Dad’s. It makes my heart so happy to hear from them each day.
Around Here I am feeling so blessed to have a husband that is all about helping me. I am truly blessed that to have someone who gets me. Who wants to be a part of everything I do.
Around Here I am thinking about purging big time. Everywhere. Less is more? This is a big undertaking, but one that needs to be done. I am thinking a little each day won’t be so overwhelming.
After much deliberation on how I want to do my Project Life for 2015, I have decided to change things up a bit. I think some change is good! But at the same time, a few things will remain the same. This will help me actually get it done. Here are my plans:
Things I am going to do different:
- I am going to switch from weekly to monthly. Or at least I am going to give it a try for January and see how it goes. Hoping it will stick.
- No more mini albums. I can’t stick with them, I know this. Everything will go into Project Life. This even means no December Daily next December. I just never seem to get it done in a mini format and have too many unfinished mini’s laying around. I need to put a stop to this.
- Incorporate my One Little Word documentation into my album.
- I am going to use a variety of photo sizes and page protectors to tell my story (this is in an attempt to use up some of the page protectors I just had to have that have been sitting just waiting to be used).
Things I am going to do the same:
- I am still going to use a 12×12 album. I just don’t think that I could fit it all into anything smaller. Besides, I have years and years worth of the white signature albums that Becky Higgins had on Amazon. I bought a ton of them when they went on clearance and I love how they look on my shelves all matching.
- I am going to continue to use the monthly project life kit from Studio Calico along with printables from The Lilypad
- I am going to continue to use the computer for journaling. While I don’t love my handwriting, I do love typography. I love the readability of typed journaling too.
- I am going to keep printing my photos with a white border. I love this look so much.
Here is a look at my title page for 2015.
I decided to go with a 6×12 Becky Higgins page protector and One Little Bird’s newest release, Silver Linings, over at The Lilypad. I printed everything on vellum and sort of love how it turned out. I added the 2 tone heart and the Hello, both from my shop, and called it done. There is also a peek at the beginning of my January pages. I am going to start each month with one of these gold foil calendars from Studio Calico. I love these and have decided not to hoard them, but use them each month in my album.
Look for a post with my first few January pages soon! I am also working on catching up on 2014 Project Life at the same time. Wish me luck!
