My challenge is to stamp on wood veneer!

For my challenge I decided to stamp some of Kellie’s stamps on some blank wood veneer pieces with Versamark and then heat emboss with Zing Embossing Powder If you don’t have blank wood veneer, simply use the back of a wood veneer you already have or add some stamping/embossing to an existing wood veneer to make it extra special.

Today I’m sharing the first page of a recipe book I have been wanting to make for a LONG time. I am planning on using a 9×12 album from A Beautiful Mess along with the page protectors and awesome dividers to make an album full of our family recipes.

I love the results of the shiny image on the wood veneer. Really makes Kellie’s stamps shine.

#Hashtag Goodness…

Hello! It’s Becky here today and I am sharing a new layout using the #Hashtagit Set from Color Cast Designs April release!  I absolutely love the new hashtag wood veneers from the April release (be sure to check out the Foodie Set too for more hashtag love)!

For  this layout I used the latest kit from A Beautiful Mess combined with the Color Cast Designs wood veneers and acrylics to scrap one of my favorite photos of my fur babies, Nikki & Olivia!

I love how easy it is to add the bits and pieces from Color Cast to any paper line – they embellish perfectly! You can never go wrong with wood veneer (or have too many!).

Thank you so much for stopping by and taking a peek today!

an Easter Project Life® page

Hello everyone, I’m so happy to share my first blog post with you all as a member of the Color Cast Design Team! I made three projects this month but today I want to focus on a Project Life® spread I made using the new the new Hashtag set. I knew it would be perfect for some of my Easter photos so I decided to focus a whole side of one spread on just that day.

April 2015 hastag full

I was particularly fond of the shade of blue of the #love acrylic piece and it ended up matching the Happy Easter card and my title card perfectly. I love the acrylic pieces when paired with the wood veneer and anytime I can I’m always going to toss in a bit of glitter. The gold glitter stars were an easy and sweet accent to add in to the mix. I loved the wood veneer Yum piece from the Foodie set so that got paired with one of the hashtag veneer to help decorate the card of my yummy breakfast. I especially loved the #forreal veneer and it was perfect with that picture of some of my favorite goofy girls. I love how these simple pieces add just the right touch to square photo. It really doesn’t need much more embellishment than that when you have the perfect sentiment to go with your photos.

I love how these embellishments pop off my pages and I hope you have a great time adding them to your projects too.

Oh my gosh, Becky nailed it with this amazingly cute photo of Jaxson on his Gotcha Day. Note: I do know that Becky’s version of the wood veneer is spelt incorrectly and I have fixed it since. No one will get a set with it misspelled…well, except Becky!

Next are Jen’s page’s. I love when Jen scrapbooks. She is just so good at it. Not that I don’t love her Project Life, cause it is pretty awesome too! Her photography is also something that I adore about her: the coast, food photos, her awesome adventures with friends and her pets…all so good!

The next couple of Project Life spreads are from Mandy! I love how she keeps the photography the focal point of her spreads. And, she loves good white space which is something that draws my eye right in. Isn’t her pup, Addie, just adorable?

And last, but not least is this awesome Project Life spread from Miriam. Hello gorgeousness! I love the colors, the photos and her embellishment placement. I love how there is plenty of white space, yet lots of color on this spread!

#myselfiescrapbook//part 1

Happy Friday! Today I am going to share my first few pages to to my mini album #myselfiescrapbook. The entire class is happening on Jen’s blog and photos are being shared with the #myselfiescrapbook tag on Instagram. All of the contributor’s social media links can be found below!

This class is all about the selfie! And not just selfies of your face. Selfies of every part of you and what makes you…well, YOU! I can’t wait for my kids to be able to look at this album years from now and know so much more about me than they might learn thru our regular albums.

The first week has been lead by Julie and was titled, “Just Start”. So so good! I loved every bit of her lesson. Below you will find my pages from the first few prompts and some other selfies that I have and wanted to include in my album.

First up is just an overview of all my supplies for the mini…a mini kit if you will. I am using black, white and grey project life cards that can be found in Becky Higgins store here. I am also using the following: Kellie Stamps, #myselfiescrapbook album covers and embellishment kits, sequins and gold accents.

Processed with VSCOcam with s3 preset

I am using the mini album I created for this class for my album. One thing that I love about using album covers is that I can make this album as thick as I want…or as thick as the biggest jump rings will allow. I am starting off with 1 inch rings, but have some bigger ones all ready if needed.

Hello! Becky here today and I am sharing an off-season layout, because, I scrap in order and I am perpetually behind the times! However, in this instance, my timing worked out well for the release of the Color Cast Designs “Walkers.” These wood veneer zombies were TOO perfect for these Halloween photos from 2013.

My kids make super adorable zombies, no?

Project Life//Insert to my kids

Happy Wednesday! I did this insert from my Project Life album as a letter to my kids using the brand new Postscript line from One Little Bird. I adore the line so much, Peppermint did an awesome job of making some of my favorite colors appear in this line! Perfect for writing a love note to my kids. These photos of them are a few years old, but I love them so much that I decided to use them for the insert. Who said everything in your 2015 album had to actually be from 2015? The words are, just not the photos. I am ok with that.

My love for sequins continues on this pocket made from the vellum in the Postscript kit (actually printed on vellum). I also printed out some of the P.S. I love you paper and punched some hearts out of it. Haven’t used my punches in a while and I kind of love how it turned out!

onelittlebird-bettertogether-byjessicaupton2

I used my Silhouette to cut out the “just a note” and the pink “hearts” and added glossy accents over them after attaching them to my pocket pages to give them a pop of shine.

And here is a close up of the letter that I wrote my kiddos. I hope that they treasure these pages as much as I treasure making them.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope that you all have a wonderful rest of your week!

On The Bookshelf

Hi!  Happy Tuesday!  Its Miriam here sharing a layout I worked on last week.  Yes a “traditional” scrapbook layout!  I haven’t done one of these in ages, in about 4 years to be exact which is when I discovered Project Life.  I’ve gotta tell you I was feeling a bit intimidated by the whole 12 x 12 layout format since its been so long, so instead I decided to try a 8 x 11 page.  That worked out so much better.

photo

I’m really loving the On The… wood veneer set and I wanted to document what we’ve been reading lately so that On The Bookshelf is perfect for that!  Aren’t they awesome? I’ve already used the On The Menu one in a Project Life spread, I know I’ll use these a lot.  It’s one of my top favorite sets along with the Coffee Lovers set and the ampersand set just to name a few.

photo (2)

For this layout I used papers from A Beautiful Mess Messy Box Kit, the vellum hearts are also from that same kit, aren’t they fun!  I used some tags and a stamp from Studio Calico, and just for the heck of it I decided to do some stitching on the background, I used my sewing machine for that, it’s never perfect but it’s always fun.  I then added the On The Bookshelf veneer and a wooden ampersand by Color Cast Designs!  I had a lot of fun with this layout and I think I’ll be doing this size pages more often.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Christmas in March

Hello!  Jen here sharing a Project Life spread of photos from last Christmas.  So yeah, maybe I’m a little behind on Project Life.  Or maybe I just don’t like to scrap in chronological order.  But I couldn’t resist these Color Cast Designs silver glitter stars–they fit perfectly with this spread!

Processed with VSCOcam with s3 preset

Using acrylic embellishments can be so versatile.  I don’t know about you, but I collect business cards (particularly from restaurants) like it’s my business.  I have tons of them!  And finding different ways of featuring them in Project Life is sometimes a challenge!  This particular star being just the outline, provided slight coverage, but yet you could still see through to the card.  I first stitched the card to my PL card and then attached the glitter star with glue dots.  Perfecto!

CCD1

Another twist the acrylics can provide is to your journaling.  Yes, journaling!  It added the perfect 3-D touch to an otherwise flat card.

CCD3

Lastly, what better spot to place a star, but atop a tree.  Again, this star allowed see- through to the photo without masking the image itself.
